Game idea:

You are a sentient mushroom in a symbiosis with an inactive portal. The portal is missing two activation keys which can be found in the nearby biomes. Generate spores and spread your colony to find the keys so your portal can be activated and take you to distant realms (not available in this alpha).

Gameplay overview:

You start with a single map tile and have to generate spores in order to advance to new tiles. You need to collect enough spores to spread your influence to new map tiles which brings you closer to collecting  the two keys and increase your passive income. You may also use income to upgrade the captured tiles to increase your income generation. The game ends when you have captured the two key tiles found on the map.

Its recommended to play in fullscreen!

Hi! I'm writing this review over a pretty long period, to really engage myself into the idle part of the game, so I might accidentally give more feedback that is typically polite to do so XD

I love your use of HTML5 webdev here, I think this form of game really fits the medium. Your UI is visually well designed, it doesn't need iconography or graphics. Very hardcore. I think your game excels when it's super data driven. I also totally love that this game has a ending, and an overall goal.

Feedback:
- I think some of the "i" boxes could be enabled through a hover action instead of click? Maybe it's worth giving it a try, perhaps.
- It would be nice if it were a bit easier to dismiss information dialogs. e.g. clicking outside of the dialog box instead of the "X" button.
- You might want to make it a little harder to cheat. I accidentally did, because I was characteristically bad at reading all the great information dialogs at the start of the game lol.

I ended up finishing the game and enjoying it. I think the game needs more time to develop, but for what was there it was really engaging and fun!

Thank you for playing our game and for your in depth feedback!

We wanted to keep the design simple and clean, glad you liked it. The cheat menu was kept mostly so that if anyone did not like the pacing and felt it being slow, they could still experience all parts of our game. This is not intended to keep if we continue working on this project after the GameJam is judged. I agree with the info box suggestions, but this would need some time to change how we render them.

Good job with this idle game ;-) The scaling is quite well balanced. If you want to improve post jam here are some suggestions:

- some visual feedback for the gained spores like particles

- maybe a timer that shows the played time at the end

Thank you! We needed to keep it a bit simple for the game jam with special effects due to the time constraints, but absolutely! I would love to introduce more graphic elements.
The timer idea is also very nice, at least for the prototype. A full game would ideally continue to new levels where this prototype ends.

"Buy upgrades" - red and blue is inverted.

By that, I really enjoyed it. Keep on!

Good catch! It will be an easy fix. Thanks for the feedback!

scrolling is for the devil.

We will work in some UI changes today to make this better before the gamejam ends! Thanks for the feedback!
